The school day begins at 8:05AM with morning program in the gym. Drop-off for children is between 7:30AM and 8:00AM. We do not have supervision at the school prior to 7:30AM. Please do not leave students unsupervised on the school property. School ends at 2:30PM on full days and 11:30AM on half days.
It is strongly suggested that all students in K-8 take the school bus in order to reduce the numbers of cars on Wilson Street and in the parking lot, making it safer for the students who must be driven to school.
Students may not be dropped off and left alone on the school property before 7:30AM. At 7:30AM, supervision is provided in the school gym. The school day begins promptly at 8:05AM. Please ensure that your child arrives on time and is settled into the gym before the beginning of the Morning Program at 8:05AM. For safety and security, the front doors are locked at 8:05AM. Students entering after 8:05AM must ring the bell at the side entrance and proceed to the office for a late pass. All children and adults must enter and leave the building through the main entrance doors only.
Parents must not walk down the halls in the morning or attempt to engage a teacher in an impromptu conference.
Students who take the bus home are dismissed by 2:25PM and proceed to the gym.
Students who are picked up, “walkers”, are escorted to the corner of Lawton and Wilson Street.
Pre-K3 and Pre-K4 are dismissed at the rear exit (Central Avenue side) near the Kindergarten doors at 2:15PM.
Parents who must drive their children to school are reminded to drop students off at the front doors.
There are many technological advances to keep us connected, but are dangerous tools in the hands of children who do not yet possess the judgment of an adult about their appropriate use. Often, these are used without adult supervision present, and so the tone and tenor of a message or IM sent is not censored. Children are under the false impression that their messages are “private” when in fact they are not. Every written message creates a trail that could have serious consequences. With this in mind, it is imperative that your children know what is acceptable – and unacceptable – when it comes to their written and spoken words. It is imperative that they hear this from you.
How do I find out about an unscheduled school closing or delay?
